Health care innovation is accelerating, yet many autonomous and semi-autonomous AI technologies face barriers under state laws designed for a clinician-centered model of care. Regulatory sandboxes provide a practical pathway to evaluate these innovations while maintaining appropriate patient safeguards. The Coalition is advancing model legislation, educating policymakers, and promoting consistent state approaches to support responsible AI innovation ahead of anticipated legislative activity beginning in 2027.
